The Los Angeles Kings will try to fight off elimination again and forge a tie in their Western Conference first round series when they host the San Jose Sharks in Game 6. The Sharks, who had a 3-0 series lead only to see the Kings battle back with two wins, will turn to Alex Stalock in goal. Stalock will be making his first career playoff start. Sharks goaltender Antti Niemi was pulled for the second straight game after allowing three goals on 19 shots. Stalock took over early in the second and stopped all 22 shots he faced in relief for the Sharks, who finished 0- for-5 on the power play. "They werent going to roll over and die," Sharks defenseman Dan Boyle said of the Kings. "They played well. We just have to go out there and win a game." The Sharks are hoping for a repeat of the Game 3 result. San Jose had lost eight straight in Los Angeles before posting that win 4-3 overtime win last Tuesday. A win tonight will get San Jose into the second round for the fourth time in five seasons. A loss means the Sharks will host a decisive Game 7 on Wednesday at SAP Center. The winner of this series will face Anaheim in the second round. The Ducks eliminated Dallas in six games with a road comeback win on Sunday night. The Sharks will be without defenceman Marc-Edouard Vlasic tonight after he left Saturdays game with an upper-body injury following a collision with L.A. forward Jarret Stoll. Vlasic, who helped Team Canada win gold at the 2014 Sochi Olympics, did not practice on Sunday. Vlasic averaged 20 minutes, 42 seconds of ice time for San Jose in 81 regular- season games. With Vlasic out, the Sharks expect to insert defenceman Matt Irwin into the lineup. Los Angeles dropped the first three games of this set and are trying to become only the fourth team in NHL history to win a best-of-seven series after trailing 3-0. The 1942 Toronto Maple Leafs, 1975 New York Islanders and 2010 Philadelphia Flyers are the only clubs to have pulled off the monumental comeback. If L.A. wins Monday it will become only the ninth team in NHL history to even force a Game 7 after falling behind three games to none. Los Angeles does have a few players on its roster that were part of a 3-0 playoff comeback. Kings forwards Jeff Carter and Mike Richards were both members of the 2010 Flyers team that stormed back to beat Boston in the conference semifinals after losing the first three games. Carter, however, missed that historic series with a broken foot before returning later in the playoffs to help Philadelphia make a surprise run to the Cup Finals. The Kings were outscored 17-8 by the Sharks in losing the first three games of this series, but L.A. answered with a 6-3 home win on Thursday before notching a 3-0 triumph Saturday in San Jose. Jonathan Quick stopped 30 shots to secure his eighth career postseason shutout and help the Kings stay alive. After avoiding a sweep with a lopsided win in Game 4, the Kings scored twice in the first period Saturday and added another marker 22 seconds into the second before leaving the rest to their veteran netminder. Quick was up to the task, posting 24 of his 30 saves over the final 40 minutes to force tonights game at the Staples Center. Anze Kopitar, Tyler Toffoli and Carter each registered a goal for the Kings, who had lost their last five playoff games in San Jose before ending the slide Saturday. "We gave ourselves a chance to play another game," Kopitar remarked. "Its a Game 7, obviously, for us again. Were going to enjoy this one tonight and start getting ready tomorrow." Los Angeles hasnt been eliminated in the opening round since 2011, when San Jose beat them in six games. Cheap Under Armour Free Shipping . After a first half in which he thought "the lid was on the basket," the Toronto Raptors coach watched his squad mount a second half surge to defeat the Cleveland Cavaliers 98-91. HOUSTON -- A grinding end to the regular season resulted in an undisciplined playoff exit for the Montreal Impact. First-half goals by Will Bruin and Oscar Boniek Garcia sucked the life out of the Impact as the Houston Dynamo bounced them from Major League Soccers post-season with a 3-0 victory on Thursday. Montreal was clearly frustrated, losing its composure and earning three ejections over the course of the game. "The match was not so bad at the beginning, but they went up by two, and that made it very difficult for us," said Impact head coach Marco Schallibaum. "We thought that if we could make it 2-1 in the second half, wed have a chance, but then we got the red card." Bruin scored a second goal in the 72nd minute for a 3-0 Dynamo lead after Impact defender Nelson Rivas was ejected from the match following his second yellow card two minutes prior. In the final minute of the match two Montreal players -- forward Marco Di Vaio and defender Andres Romero -- were handed red cards following a skirmish in the near corner near the Impacts goal. Di Vaio, Romero and Rivas will miss Montreals first regular season game in 2014. "Sorry for my reaction in the game tonight," said Romero in a tweet after the game. "I felt great impotence and no I couldnt control. Excuse me!" The Impact qualified for the MLS playoffs in just their second season in the league, but they had a share of the Eastern Conference lead as late as Sept. 8 before falling to fifth after a loss on the final day of the regular season. The Dynamo finished two points ahead of Montreal in the standings to earn home field for the knockout round. "It has been a long season, and of course we are tired," said Schallibaum. "But that is no excuse for what happened." Some members of Montreals lineup are seeing the late-season collapse as an opportunity for growth. "We can learn from Houston; they are a good team and played a very good match tonight," said Impact defender Hassoun Camara. "Yes, its an experience, and maybe a hard lesson for us to learn tonight, but we have to llook toward the future and find a way to come back.dddddddddddd" Montreals Justin Mapp had a chance to even the score in the 18th minute, but his shot just missed the right post after Bobby Boswell turned the ball over in the far corner. Di Vaio led the Impact with five shots, just two of which were on target. Houston goalkeeper Tally Hall recorded his fourth post-season shutout and said he is looking forward to the rest of the playoffs. "Sometimes its fun being a goalkeeper and watching the team in front of you put on a performance (like that)," said Hall. "It makes soccer fun, especially when you look around and everyone is playing their best soccer of the year." In the 16th minute, Bruin received a back-heeled pass from Ricardo Clark, found some space just inside the box and ripped home his fifth career playoff goal. Bruin scored four goals as Houston reached the MLS Cup final a year ago. The Dynamo extended their lead in the 27th minute as Boniek Garcia converted a penalty kick after Montreals Hernan Bernardello tripped him in the box. Since Aug. 24, following a 5-0 win over Houston in Montreal, the Impact has won just two of 11 games and have been shutout seven times. "We just have not had the right disposition in the second half of the season," added Schallibaum. "There was a lot to handle mentally. We need to analyze what happened, what we have gone through and just try to be better next year." Houston advances to play the No. 1-seeded New York Red Bulls (17-9-8) in a two-game, aggregate score series. The first match is in Houston on Sunday, and the second will be at Red Bull Arena in New Jersey on Nov. 6. The Red Bulls won the 2013 Supporters Shield with the best record in the MLS. "The one thing about this group, the attention to detail once the playoffs starts, it grows minute by minute and they prepare themselves to give themselves the best chance possible," said Houston head coach Dominic Kinnear. ""Even at the end there, cooler heads prevailed and its important that we did because the game on Sunday."
